the heroes have less abilities and less choices you can choose from feel more generic. All of Planetfall’s factions represent some segment of the old galactic society that has gone off and developed new strategies for surviving in a much rougher, much less certain starscape. Planetfall expands in literal every way of the previous game except in terms of heroes which is for me a big letdown. granted, visually they are less visually emphasized and mix more with the sector background because you don't have to be concerned that they fall under your zone of control as long as they are within the sector. In AoW3 you had special pre-existing structures on the world map like forges or quarries, those were inhabited by neutral enemies which you fought and freed the structure with its bonuses. ![]() the only other structure besides a city you can build on the world map is a forward base in planetfall and was a fort (same like forward base) in AoW3 and a lookout tower in AoW3. granted that at the beginning the choices are slim but later cities and later research areas gives you bigger choices in cities.Īlso there was NEVER an option to upgrade buildings or create economical structures on the world map. just look at all energy buildings in planetfalls economy research tab and you see a bunch of specialized ones where you have choices. while you have the same scheme of buildings in planetfall they added a whole economy of production, research and production as well as food to the mix with several tiered resource buildings and each resource building has branching paths and boni depending on tier and stack. You had like 2 buildings giving more mana, 2 giving more production, 1-2 giving more money, 2 more research, 2 buildings upgrading walls (and more zone of control) as well as 2 buildings giving more HP regen to units and like 3-4 buildings used for unlocking units. While seemingly not fully written out here is a wiki entry of buildings: the city buildings were barebones and mainly for unlocking next tier of X Unit type. In AoW3 you used a settler to plop down a town which had a city area (which grew a couple times depending on city level and some buildings). O.O? What? dude, if you complain about a game being worse in some aspects than its predecessor or game X then you should at least know the mechanics of said previous title. You didn't build up individual tiles in 3 as opposed to full sectors? economy has a ehole tech tree ffs, how did you come up with the thought they "streamlined it" is beyond me. in planetfall they actually expanded on it, made it more in depth. city development in aow3 was like in previous titles almost non existant. ![]() economy has a ehole tech tree ffs, how did you come up with the thought they "streamlined it" is beyond me.Įrm. Every step of the way we have combat options from doing NPC faction quests or fighting the NPC faction's units.Įrm. You encounter other player empires and jockey for the last bits of land. Start out expanding and clearing out camps. Overall I like the way the game plays out. If the deeper city management was something you cared about from 3 its absolutely understandable you dislike the changes. City management is streamlined with sectors. ![]() People rage about the small feeling map but with the combat focus enlarging the map would just delay the combat. The combat is mechanically stronger than previous. However I personally find it was done well here. Something that I personally have raged about in the past (ahem, Skyrim). Planetfall very obviously is the result of refining and streamlining mechanics. I understand people who are disappointed from AoW 3. ![]() Originally posted by Promethian:The thing is.
